After becoming a follower of Christ at age 17 in New York, the Lord called me into ministry while in undergrad at Wheaton College. In 2008, I became a pastor at Living Hope, which was originally an English ministry of a Taiwanese church. Over the years, it has been amazing to see God continuing to grow us in depth and in breadth from a youth group to now a growing, multi-ethnic church within the Christian and Missionary Alliance. We are continuing to learn what it means to be a community fueled by the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ on mission for all nations! It is an immense privilege to shepherd this wonderful flock for the glory of God and the fame of Jesus Christ.
I am also blessed to be married to my beautiful bride and incredible ministry partner Jenny and we have two precious daughters, Abbie and Annabelle. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, reading all different kinds of genres, watching and talking baseball and eating all kinds of cuisine.
I started coming to Living Hope in January of 2008 and am currently overseeing the Children's Ministry.
The Children's ministry has grown exponentially in the last 2 years. We are blessed with teachers who are organized, educated, loving and compassionate who love communicating the Gospel to the next generation. We have children from Preschool through 5th grade.
The vision of Children's ministry at Living Hope is to show how the whole Bible is about Jesus and how every story leads back to the greater story of Christ, and, in doing so, raise up the next generation of believers who love Jesus and who see the Gospel as not only the means of salvation but the very thing we need for life and growth in the Christian walk.
I came to know the Lord when I was 13 and am so thankful for the journey He has taken me on! I'm married to Robin and we have 2 beautiful and eccentric little girls. I work part time as a nurse practitioner. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, reading, listening to music, and watching movies. I love to disciple women and see their view of God grow bigger, deeper and wider.
I started coming to Living Hope in 2011. I currently serve as a Small Group Cordinator.
I am married to my wonderful wife, Deepti! I enjoy watching movies and I love running. I also enjoy traveling with my wife. An interesting fact about me is when I ran the Chicago marathon back in 2010, I actually ran 26 miles, but did not finish the final two tenths of a mile! It was a very hot day and I was severely dehydrated so I had to quit. Since then however, I have been able to finish the marathon!
Youth Leader /
Small Group Coordinator
I've attended Living Hope since 2009. I'll always remember the exact day I visited Living Hope for the first time because it was actually on my birthday! God gave me a great birthday present by leading me to this community where I feel so at home. I got a glimpse of this church's love for Jesus and for people during that visit and I'm blessed to say that I've seen this community grow in this love each year I've been here.
I am the secretary for the Servant Team and organize and record all of the information shared, and decisions made, in each meeting. I love writing and note-taking so I'm glad to serve in this way!
Another thing I love to do at Living Hope is teach the Youth Group kids. I taught some of the kids since 2009 and it has been so much fun seeing them grow up! My husband, Roy, and I also help lead one of the small groups at church. We love our small group and feel like we're gathering with family whenever we get together. I enjoy reading all types of books, learning about other cultures and religions, eating spicy food and tiramisu, and hanging out with my friends and family. Roy and I also enjoy traveling and watching (and then debating about) movies together.
Men’s Ministry Leader /
Small Group Leader
I started coming to Living Hope back when it was previously the English Ministry of the Evangelical Formosan Church of Chicago. I attended this church ever since I was a child to today.
I serve as overseer of the Living Hope Care Ministry which seeks to care for the immediate needs of those who attend Living Hope.
God is working in my own heart as I oversee this ministry. It is good for me to be constantly stretched in loving, serving, and caring for others, especially since my natural tendency is to be self-centered. But God is also revealing his tender care and ability and willingness to provide through this ministry, especially to those who are struggling with finances, school, and family hardships.
My vision for this Care Ministry is that our example would spur everyone at Living Hope to look beyond themselves to the needs of others. The job of caring is not solely the job of 4-5 people, but the job of the entire church.
I enjoy anime/manga, video games, reading comic books, watching movies (especially superhero movies), and playing piano and guitar.
Worship Leader /
Small Group Leader
I first heard about Living Hope in 2011 (I used to baby-sit for Pastor Robin and Jenny!) but didn't start coming until 2012. Today, I currently serve as one of the Worship Leaders on the Worship Team.
I was initially drawn to join the Worship Team after seeing, week after week, a sincerity and genuineness in coming before the Lord in brokenness, wanting to know Him more, and proclaiming His goodness and faithfulness. I knew I wanted to be a part of a team and community like that, and today, I have the privilege of helping others do the same.
While our skill has definitely been growing, God has mainly been challenging us to be more real and authentic with Him and with each other. My hope for our team is that our public worship would be an outpouring of our deepening relationship with Christ.
In my down time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Liju, and with my family and friends. I enjoy traveling, cooking, exploring new places and food, and trying out adventurous things. Liju and I also enjoy spending time with our dog-niece, Khaleesi. She's a mix breed of insane and adorable
I started attending Living Hope in the January of 2013 and am currently serving as the Treasurer at Living Hope. I was drawn to this position because it seemed like a natural fit for where I could use my education and training. I finished my Masters of Science in Accounting from DePaul University in 2013 and became a Licensed CPA in 2014.
I first started attending Living Hope with my husband Giby and my daughter Rebekah in the fall of 2013. We were expecting our little boy at the time, and a few weeks after joining the church, our family expanded to 4 when Daniel was born. I began to serve as a teacher in the Children's Ministry in the summer of 2014. Currently, I also serve as the Children's Ministry director.
I was drawn to Children's Ministry almost immediately after attending Living Hope. I have always had a heart for children and have taught as an elementary school teacher for several years. I love teaching God's Word to young children and seeing them develop a relationship with Jesus Christ. I am so honored to be part of a team of teachers who love the Lord and who serve so faithfully and passionately. Our children at Living Hope have wonderful teachers pouring their lives into them! Our desire is that each child will come to know the relentless love of God in his/her life and see how the whole Bible points back to the story of Jesus. We want to partner with parents to help these kids become solid in their relationship with Jesus as they learn to see the world through the light of the Gospel.
I love spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy reading, listening to music, and trying new food!
